Fiesta Recast: cuando el teatro musical se cruza con la noche porteña

There is a new space for musical theatre fans in Buenos Aires nightlife. Recast held its second edition on January 10, following a very successful first event on September 20, and it confirmed something important: this is not just another party, but a meeting point for those of us who live and breathe musicals.

The concept works as a crossover between Broadway and a nightclub, executed with great aesthetic and conceptual care. It’s not just about playing songs: there are live performances, theatrical moments, and a production designed to support every part of the night.
Highlights included Fabulous from High School Musical, This Is What Dreams Are Made Of performed onstage by Paolo, Lizzie, and Isabella, and a Don’t Rain on My Parade (Glee version) that became one of the most celebrated moments of the night. A special mention goes to In Summer from Frozen, performed with a Broadway-style puppet — a detail that speaks volumes about the level of dedication behind the event.
The production was, quite honestly, flawless. From the decoration to the pacing of the shows, everything was carefully planned to create atmosphere. There were standout moments that elevated the experience: fake bills raining down during Money from Mamma Mia! and confetti during All For One from High School Musical.
As an unexpected and much-celebrated detail, chipá was handed out several times throughout the night, sealing the event’s collective and festive spirit.
Recast achieves something rare: recreating the feeling of getting together with friends to watch musical videos, sing along, and get overly emotional — but on a much larger scale and with a professional production behind it. Everyone was fully committed, with no irony or detachment.
In short: incredible production, an enthusiastic crowd, and a clear concept. Recast doesn’t just work — it’s shaping up to become a new permanent space for the musical theatre community in Buenos Aires nightlife. Highly recommended.
